FURNITURE PAINTING CLASS
This is a beginner’s course for both absolute beginners and those with a basic understanding of furniture painting. Clementene will teach you a range of classic and artistic skills so you can confidently transform your own old, outdated or modern, plain furniture into beautiful and unique pieces which you can be proud of. The techniques you will be taught include:
• creating a flat finish in the paint for a clean, contemporary look
• texturing the paint with varying brush strokes and the use of clear and dark wax
• two-colour distressing
• cracking the paint with a craquelure medium for an aged patina
• mixing colour washes and tinted waxes
• gilding with metallic gold and silver leaf
• dècoupage using decorative cut out images
• layering stencil patterns on top of each other
The techniques are taught on sample boards and the day is finished with you painting your very own picture frame or candlestick holders.
This a fun, interactive and hands-on class. All you need to bring is plenty of enthusiasm, a pen and paper if you want to make notes and clothes you don't mind getting the odd splash of paint on!
The price includes all materials and refreshments - delicious sandwiches, cake, biscuits (from Bettys), tea, coffee, fresh juice (this only applies where the classes are held at The Stable Gallery, Old Sleningford. The other venues have facilities where you can purchase your own delicious treats!)

All of Clementene's painted furniture is lovingly restored and fit for purpose. Please note that some pieces may have suffered a few knocks and scrapes before it came to Clementenes. After all, it’s what gives the furniture its personality and charm. Clementene repairs what needs repairing, but as for any little imperfections she embraces these and will often highlight them as a feature. Clementene will always do her best to show sizeable bumps (if any) in her photographs. Although she hopes that if you’ve come this far, you’ll welcome the unique character of each piece as much as she does!
Clementene will arrange to deliver the furniture to your door for a reasonable fee, or you are more than welcome to pick the furniture up from her studio at no extra cost.
If Clementene is arranging delivery, the cost will be calculated by working out the distance from her studio (WF17) to your home.
Between 0 – 100 miles you will be charged a flat fee of £50. If the distance is more than 100 miles, please get in touch for your own bespoke delivery cost.
You can calculate the delivery distance on the contact page. Alternatively, get in touch and Clementene will be happy to help.
And don't foget to measure up, so you know your beautiful new piece will fit in its new home!
