Marguerite - Baroque Carver Chair

Meet Marguerite – a stunning antique vintage Queen Anne baroque style carver chair, restored and hand painted by Clementene Coates in a sumptuous French Linen paint and reupholstered in an exquisite hand printed silk / cotton fabric mix designed by Witts Design of Kew, London.

Clementene used her signature brush technique to add texture and tone to the paint, which has been lightly distressed to create a naturally aged patina, showcased particularly on the carved designs. The paint has been sealed with several coats of a clear wax, which has been gently buffed to create a subtle sheen.

The digital leaf print on the fabric was inspired by the surroundings at Kew Gardens. The design was drawn by hand by Witts and using specialist techniques, watercolours and inks were added to the print.  Eye-catching gold studs create a beautiful contrast between the fabric and the painted wood.

This chair was borne out of a collaboration between Clementene Coates and Witts Design and it has been showcased at both Hampton Court Palace and Kew Gardens in London. This is a striking, vintage and completely bespoke piece of furniture which will look ideal in a study, a living room, a hallway or even a bedroom - anywhere where one wants to add a unique and special touch.

* This chair can be purchased individually or as a pair with Fleur for £999. If you want to buy the pair, please contact Clementene Coates to arrange payment.

All of Clementene's painted furniture is lovingly restored and fit for purpose. Please note that some pieces may have suffered a few knocks and scrapes before it came to Clementenes. After all, it’s what gives the furniture its personality and charm. Clementene repairs what needs repairing, but as for any little imperfections she embraces these and will often highlight them as a feature. Clementene will always do her best to show sizeable bumps (if any) in her photographs. Although she hopes that if you’ve come this far, you’ll welcome the unique character of each piece as much as she does!
